An NGO in special consultative status with United Nations Economic and Social Council since 2010

Africa Centre for Citizens Orientation (ACCO) (formerly, Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria), is an NGO in special consultative status with United Nations Economic and Social Council with a mission to build active citizens for a better and just society. ACCO is out to promote the good and welfare of African citizens, most especially women, young people including girls and persons with disabilities on the principles of freedom, equality and justice, and for the purpose of consolidating the unity and culture of our people.

Having successfully organized projects and activities for women groups, artisans, students, youth-led organizations and youths in schools and communities, in partnership with private and public institutions coupled with scholarship assistance given to its members and out-of-school youths, the United Nations granted to the organization, a special consultative status with Economic and Social Council in July 2010.

Prior to this time and to establish Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria as a National NGO to fulfill the goal of inspiring, mobilizing, engaging, networking, developing young men and women in schools and communities; and to also inculcate our experiences and lesson learnt in working with young people, communities, leaders at all level and policymakers, the Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria was transformed into the Africa Centre for Citizens Orientation which is duly and legally registered in Nigeria by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT/NO 53808) to promote the common good of all Nigerians and Africans wherever they may be with a particular attention to children, youth and women, disadvantaged communities, persons with disabilities and minority groups.

African Centre for Citizens Orientation is a coalition of five community and grassroots organizations namely Women Initiatives Nigeria (WIN), Youth Alliance on ICT for Development, Youth for Youth in Support of Peaceful Elections, Secure Africa - Africa Regional Youth Crime Prevention & Development Conference and Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria.

ACCO focus on Citizenship Education, Empowerment & Development; Women's Rights & Health; Gender-Based Violence & Human Rights; Peace building, Crime Prevention & Community Safety; Rule of Law & Democracy; and ICT for Development/CivicTech & Digital Inclusion.
