Through the continuous support of enabling conditions in developing countries, our Climate Change and Environment project promotes innovation and technology transfer for sustainable energy breakthroughs, demonstrate mitigation options with systemic impacts, and mainstream mitigation concerns into sustainable development strategies by strengthening interaction and integration between climate change mitigation and other environment programs.
To foster sustainable, climate-resilient growth in Africa, ACCO supported climate change adaptation and its incorporation into development policies, programs, and investments. The initiative provided technical and analytical help as well as capacity-building to vulnerable communities to improve their ability to respond to climate change.
It also improved scientific and evidence-based methodologies and tools for local stakeholders to participate in decision-making and learn from adaptation. Institutional strengthening, policy development, water issues, conflict, and farming techniques were all areas where technical help was provided.
